FeaturesCollaboration

Collaboration

Cumulus chat sessions aren’t single-player. You can invite teammates into any session, see each other’s messages in real time, and work with (or without) the AI in the same thread.

Adding people to a session

Open a chat and look for the member chips along the top of the conversation. Click the + chip to add a teammate from your organization. When someone joins or leaves, Cumulus posts a system message in the timeline so everyone knows who’s in the thread.

The session creator is marked with an OWNER badge on their chip.

@-mentions

Type @name anywhere in a message to mention a teammate. If they aren’t already in the session, Cumulus automatically adds them — so you don’t have to go through the member chips first. This is the fastest way to pull someone into an in-progress thread.

AI Mute

Sometimes you want teammates to talk to each other in the same thread without the AI replying to every message. The AI Mute toggle suppresses AI responses for the session. Turn it back off whenever you’re ready for the AI to chime in again.

Use AI Mute when you want to coordinate with a teammate in context — planning your next prompt, reviewing a result together, or deciding how to proceed — before re-engaging the AI.

Leaving a session

Any participant who isn’t the session owner can leave via the chip menu — click their own chip and select Leave. The owner’s session is unaffected.

Unread indicators

Chat rows in the sidebar show an unread dot when a teammate has posted since you last viewed the session. Open the chat to clear it.

Project sessions vs. standalone chats

Collaboration works in both project sessions and standalone chats. In a project session, the project’s members are already visible to everyone in the thread.

If you started a standalone chat and later want to bring a project’s shared context and members along, you can promote it into a project — see Conversations for the move flow.
