FeaturesImage Generation

Image Generation

What it does: Ask Cumulus to generate an image and it creates one right in the chat. Images render inline with a lightbox view and download button. Each user gets a weekly quota.

How to use it

You can trigger image generation in two ways:

Slash command — type /image followed by a description:

  • /image a modern office workspace with natural lighting
  • /image a minimalist logo concept for a coffee brand

Natural language — just ask in any chat:

  • “Generate an image of a team brainstorming session”
  • “Create an illustration of our product roadmap”

The AI uses its image generation tool automatically when your message calls for a visual. You’ll see a “Generating image…” indicator while it works.

Viewing and downloading

Generated images appear inline in the chat. You can:

  • Click the image to open a full-size lightbox view
  • Download using the download button on the image

Each image shows the prompt that was used and your usage count (e.g. “2/10 this week”).

Weekly quota

Each user has a weekly image generation limit. Your current usage is shown on every generated image as a counter (e.g. “3/10 this week”).

When you reach your limit, a “Weekly limit reached” card appears instead of generating an image. The card shows your usage and a progress bar. Your quota resets automatically each week.

Image generation limits are set at the organization level. If you need a higher limit, ask your admin about upgrading your plan.

Admin controls

Image generation is controlled at the organization level. Admins can enable or disable it from Settings > Organization.

When disabled, the /image slash command is hidden and the AI will not generate images even if asked directly.

Tips & gotchas

  • Be descriptive — the more detail you give in your prompt, the better the result
  • Quota is per user — your usage doesn’t affect teammates
  • Images are stored — generated images persist in your chat history and can be downloaded later
  • Signed URLs — image links expire after 7 days, but Cumulus automatically refreshes them when you revisit the chat
