FeaturesScheduled Tasks

Scheduled Tasks

What it does: Create recurring AI tasks that run automatically — daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly. The AI executes your prompt on schedule and delivers results both in-app and via email, so you get insights without lifting a finger.

How to use it

Start with the /schedule slash command

Type /schedule in the chat input, then describe what you want the AI to do on a recurring basis. For example: /schedule Send me a weekly summary of our project status every Monday at 9am.

The AI confirms the details

The AI parses your request and presents a scheduled task config card showing what it will do, how often, and when. Review the details to make sure everything looks right.

Configure the schedule

The config card lets you fine-tune:

  • Cadence — Daily, Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly
  • Day — which day of the week (for weekly/biweekly) or day of the month (for monthly)
  • Time — hour and minute in your local timezone
  • Timezone — select from common timezones (US, Europe, Asia-Pacific)

The task runs automatically

At the scheduled time, the AI executes your prompt and delivers the results:

  • In chat — a result card appears in the conversation with the AI’s output
  • By email — you receive an email notification with a summary and a link back to the full result in Cumulus

Pro tip: Scheduled tasks work great for recurring reports, daily briefings, weekly digests, or any analysis you need on a regular cadence. Write your prompt as if you were asking the AI directly — it has access to all the same tools and data sources.

Note: Only one scheduled task can be active per chat session. To set up multiple schedules, create separate chat sessions for each.

Managing scheduled tasks

You can manage your scheduled tasks from Settings or from the config card in chat:

  • Pause — temporarily stop a task from running without deleting it
  • Resume — reactivate a paused task
  • Cancel — permanently remove a scheduled task
  • Edit prompt — update what the AI does on each run
  • Change schedule — adjust the cadence, day, time, or timezone

A small gear icon appears in the chat sidebar next to sessions that have an active scheduled task.

Tips & gotchas

  • One per session — each chat session can have at most one active or paused scheduled task. Start a new chat for additional schedules.
  • Timezone-aware — schedules respect the timezone you select, so “9am” means 9am in your chosen timezone regardless of where the server runs
  • Email delivery — results are emailed to the address associated with your Cumulus account. Make sure your email is correct in your profile.
  • Data access — scheduled tasks have access to the same data sources and tools as a normal chat message in that session (knowledge base, connected drives, web search, etc.)
  • Missed runs — if a task can’t run at the scheduled time (e.g., system maintenance), it will execute on the next available cycle
